Common questions

Frequently asked questions

Which consulate do I go to — Ramat Gan or Haifa?
Since June 2024 it depends on your place of residence. If you live in Hadera or further north, you go to Haifa. Everyone else goes to Ramat Gan. We confirm the right consulate when we book.
How long do I have to take the oath after receiving the approval?
12 months from the date of the approval letter. The deadline is firm — miss it and you may have to restart the reacquisition process. Book early: waiting times are typically 1–3 months.
Do I need to speak Romanian for the oath?
Yes. Since 15 March 2025 a basic level (A1) is required. No certificate is needed, but you should be able to hold a very simple conversation. We send you the oath text well in advance.
How much does it cost in total?
Our scheduling fee is 250 NIS, paid once we've secured your appointment. For passport applications and renewals the consulate charges 220 NIS, paid in cash on the day.
When do I pay you?
Only after we've booked your slot and sent you the screenshot and the consulate's confirmation email. The payment details are agreed with you privately, in the same WhatsApp or email conversation.
Can I change the appointment date?
Yes, for an additional 125 NIS. Please confirm your availability before we book to avoid this.
Can you book other appointments too?
Yes — for example transcription of civil-status documents or other consular procedures. These are discussed case by case, including the price. Message us on WhatsApp with your situation.
Can you guarantee a specific date?
No. Slots are released by the consulate and go quickly. We book the first suitable slot and do our best to match your preferences, but the date depends on the consulate's calendar.
Do my children need to come to the oath appointment?
No. Minor children don't attend the oath, but you must bring their documents: originals, Romanian translations, valid Israeli passports and original birth certificates.
When can I collect the passport?
Passport collection is Monday to Thursday, 14:00–15:00, at the consulate where you applied.
Are you the Romanian consulate?
No. RoConsulat.il is a private scheduling service. We are not affiliated with the Romanian government, embassy or consulates.
