Citizenship oath
- Civil-status documentsOriginals + An official certificate under the Hague Convention confirming that a public document is authentic, so it can be used in another country. + Romanian translations (copies): birth, marriage, divorce, name change — where applicable
- Oath invitation letterThe letter you received, plus the envelope if you still have it
- No printed photosNot needed for the oath appointment
- Valid Israeli passportOriginal plus one photocopy
- Minor childrenThey don't attend, but bring their originals, translations, valid Israeli passports and original birth certificates
Since 15 March 2025 a basic level of Romanian (A1) is required — no certificate needed, but be prepared. We send you the oath text in advance.
Passport — adult
- Valid Israeli passportOriginal
- Romanian birth certificateOriginal
- Romanian marriage certificateOriginal, if applicable
- Romanian citizenship certificateOr other proof of citizenship, only if you have it — otherwise the consulate verifies your status
- Current Romanian passportFor renewals — valid or expired
- No printed photosThe passport photo is taken at the consulate
Married, divorced or changed your name? These must already be recorded on the back of your Romanian certificates. Any civil-status change must be updated in Romania first — we cannot do this for you.
Passport — child
- Both parents + the childAll three attend the appointment together
- Child's Romanian birth certificateOriginal — mandatory
- Parent's Romanian birth certificateOriginal
- Romanian marriage certificateOriginal, if applicable
- Romanian citizenship documentOr proof of citizenship, only if you have it
- Israeli passportsValid originals for everyone attending
- Existing Romanian passportsBring any the family already holds
Both parents and the child must be present at the consulate at the booked time. The child's original Romanian birth certificate is mandatory.
